Officials announce holiday closings

Local, state and federal offices will be closed for the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.
State offices will be closed Dec. 24 through 26 and on Jan. 1. Federal offices, banks and the Post Office will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1
Wayne County employees on the traditional five-day work week will be off Dec. 24, 25, and 26. This includes all departments except for the Development Alliance, Human Resources, Department of Emergency Services, the Health Department and the Department of Social Services. Those departments will be closed from Dec. 22 through 26.
The landfill and convenient sites will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, but will open on Dec. 26.
All county offices are closed on Jan. 1.
The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority (GATEWAY) will close at 3:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and be closed Christmas Day. GATEWAY will operate on its Saturday schedule on Friday, Dec. 26 and Thursday, Jan. 1.
The Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center will be closed Dec. 24-26.
Goldsboro City Hall will be closed Dec. 24-26 for Christmas and Thursday, Jan. 1, for New Year's Day.
Refuse and recycle services for Thursday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Dec. 26, will be serviced on Wednesday, Dec. 24. All yard waste services will be canceled for the holiday week.
Sanitation services scheduled for Jan. 1 will be serviced on Wednesday, Dec. 31 instead.
Mount Olive town offices will be closed Dec. 24-26 for Christmas and Jan. 1 for New Year's Day.
Household garbage pickup will be Dec. 26 and Dec. 27.
The following week household garbage pick up will be on Friday, Jan. 2 and Saturday, Jan. 3.
The Recyclables Center will be closed Dec. 24-26, but will be open on Saturday, Dec. 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will operate on a regular schedule the week of New Year's.
Public Works will try to pick up the yard waste on Dec. 22 and 23, town officials said.
The week of New Year's, the yard waste will be picked up as follows, Thursday's route will be picked on Wednesday. That is the only change.
Eureka Town Hall will be closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Fremont town offices will be closed Dec. 24 through 26 and Jan. 1.
Pikeville Town Hall will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1. Trash pickup will be moved from Thursday of each week to Friday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
Walnut Creek offices will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1. Recyclables pickup will be moved to Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
Christmas and New Year's Day are on Thursdays and the town offices in Seven Springs are normally closed on Thursdays. They will also closed Dec. 24 and 26 and Dec. 31.
The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles driver's license offices and license plate agencies will be closed Dec. 24-27 in observance of the Christmas holiday. All driver's license office and agency locations will resume normal business hours on Monday, Dec. 29.
In addition, all office locations will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year's Day. Offices will reopen during normal business hours on Friday, Jan. 2.
