Police: Man solicited 12-year-old girl on Facebook

A man police say solicited a 12-year-old girl on Facebook and then engaged in sexual intercourse with her faces criminal charges, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Darren Ray Howery Jr., 23, of 4704 Fields Station Road in LaGrange, is charged with two counts of first-degree statutory rape of a child, one count of first-degree statutory sexual offense of a child and solicitation of a minor by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.
He is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $600,000 secured bond.
According to a GPD press release, Howery interacted on the social media site with the child without having any prior contact with her.
The rape was first reported to Nov. 1.
