Shooting suspect jailed after shots fired into car

A Goldsboro man is in the Wayne County Jail this morning after allegedly shooting into a car occupied by two women Wednesday night.
The shooting took place in the 1600 block of East Maple Street at 8 p.m.
Solomon Ardell Herring, 26, of 1610 E. Maple St., is charged with assault on a female, discharging a firearm in the city, firing into an occupied vehicle and going armed to the terror of the public.
He is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond and is awaiting a first appearance later today.
According to the police report, Vicky Pearson, 57, and her daughter, Ebony Pearson, 29, were driving home after stopping at a gas station on North Jefferson Avenue.
While between the 1700 and 1600 blocks of East Maple Street, her car was fired upon and struck at least twice causing an estimated $500 in damage.
The shots were fired by someone she knew, the report said.
Police responded, processed the scene and conducted an investigation. The report lists the name, age, address and description of Herring as the suspect.
Herring was taken into custody and charged 45 minutes after the shooting.
