There will be a free writing workshop for all veterans of the United States Armed Forces of any era, whether combat veteran or not.
The two-day workshop, sponsored by the Dare County Arts Council, will be Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University of North Carolina Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese.
Instructor will be Ron Capps, a combat veteran and professional writer. There will also be other instructors with the Washington, D.C.-based Veterans Writing Project, a nonprofit foundation that teaches veterans to express their military experiences through literature.
Participants will receive a course curriculum, instruction from professional writers and one-on-one guidance. Veterans will be encouraged to continue working on their projects after the seminar, and also submit their work for publication in the Veteran Writing Project's Literary Journal: O-Dark Thirty.
reservations are required by emailing to Chris Sawin at info@darearts or by logging onto www.obxvwp.org.
