Wayne Community College was well represented recently, when several instructors were chosen to share their expertise with sister colleges at the 2014 N.C. Community College System Conference in Raleigh.

This year's conference, which is the largest event sponsored by the state community college system, focused on the theme of "Pathways to Success: 21st Century Teaching, Learning and Student Support."

Three from WCC were selected to make presentations.

Chemistry instructor Ashton "T" Griffin spoke on two topics -- "Eight New Performance Objectives: Meeting Them the Wayne Community College Way" and "How Becoming a Google School, along with Social Media and a New Wayne Community College Web App, Have Changed the Way Chemistry is Taught."

Business and Accounting Department chairwoman Tracy Schmeltzer and business administration instructor Erin LeGrand with Jessie Bell-Flowers, a business administration instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College, led multiple roundtable discussions on "Business Administration Capstone Courses -- Best Practices."

Allied Health Division chairwoman Patty Pfeiffer, Nursing Department chairwoman Sue Beaman, and nursing instructors Joanne McClave, Jennifer Sugg and Billy Tart presented at multiple roundtables on "Creative Learner-Centered Strategies for the Associate Degree Nursing Curriculum Improvement Project."

More than 60 faculty and staff from WCC also attended the conference.
