Goldsboro native to be speaker at Elizabeth City State University

Col. Rodney T. Haggins Sr.

A Goldsboro native will be the guest speaker at the Elizabeth City State University Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday.

Col. Rodney T. Haggins Sr., a member of the ECSU Class of '87, will speak in the Walter N. and Henrietta B. Ridley Student Complex.

Haggins is the chief of Current Operations, Force 2025 and Beyond Directorate, for the Army Capability Integration Center in Fort Eustis, Va.

Haggins was the Army Chief of Staff Senior Fellow at North Western University's Kellogg School of Management in Evanston Illinois and Manpower Division Chief at Headquarters U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

He has held numerous leadership positions, during 27 years of service including platoon leader, executive officer, commander, observer trainer, secretary of the General Staff, general's aide, branch chief and division chief. He completed two combat tours to Iraq and one peacekeeping tour in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Haggins is married to the former Brigitta France of Orangeburg, S.C. They have two sons.
