Larry Pierce is still the sheriff after beating his opponent, Glenn Barnes, by nearly 10,000 votes.

Matthew Delbridge edged Terry Light for District Attorney 28,529 to 27,348.

Jennifer Strickland pulled off an upset in the District 4 School Board race -- unseating incumbent John Grantham by fewer than 300 votes.

And State Sen. Louis Pate kept his job.

Just before midnight, Tom Tillis, who won the Wayne vote, was declared the winner of a tight race with Sen. Kay Hagan.
