Two victims identified in fatal crash

The N.C. Highway Patrol has released the names of the two people killed in a head-on collision early Friday morning.
Robert Arthur McKenzie, 34, of Walstonburg, and Caycee Lyn Smith, 43, of Farm Club Road, Goldsboro, died when their vehicles met head on coming around a curve on N.C. Highway 111 North just after 7 a.m.
"Vehicle one (McKenzie) was traveling south on N.C. 111 when he crossed the center line and struck vehicle two (Ms. Smith)," Trooper C.S. Grainger said.
No other circumstances contributed to the accident, Grainger said.
Volunteer firefighters from Patetown, Saulston and Antioch Volunteer Fire Departments responded, along with the Highway Patrol, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, EMS and the Office of Emergency Services.
The highway remained closed for several hours as law enforcement officials investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash.
