A lone gunman pointed a handgun at a cashier and four customers in a restaurant Friday night before making off with $175.90 in cash in one of two Friday armed robberies being investigated by Goldsboro police.
No one was injured in either robbery. An arrest has been made in the other incident.
Maurice Bruno Coley, 20, 122 Heather Ann Lane, Dudley, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon after he allegedly robbed the Asiya Market, 501 E. Ash St., just before 1 p.m. Friday.
He was jailed under a $100,000 bond.
The cashier told police he was robbed by a black man who was wearing a black coat, black athletic shorts and black and gray shoes. The suspect entered the market with his white shirt covering his face.
The cashier saw what he said resembled a small gun.
Coley allegedly demanded U.S. currency and cigarettes before fleeing with an undetermined amount of money and a pack of cigarettes.
He was last seen running north on Kornegay Street.
Police arrested Coley in the 300 block of North Kornegay Street.
In the second robbery, police said that a black man walked into the Royal Bangkok Thai Cuisine restaurant, 1503 Wayne Memorial Drive, around 7:30 p.m. Friday and pointed a small black handgun at the cashier.
The cashier told police the man spoke to her in a calm, quiet voice.
She said the man told her, "Be quiet. Don't move. Open the register and give me the money."
She said she did as she was told and that the man left on foot, but not before pointing the gun at the customers.
