PIKEVILLE -- Pikeville commissioners will interview an expected five candidates for the position of town administrator Saturday morning.

"The town (commissioners) will interview each one and after each interview they will discuss the candidate among themselves," said Mayor Glenn Hartman. "Out of five they will decide which one is the best or they may decide that they need to do more interviews and pick the top three out of five. This is really an involved process."

During the regular scheduled meeting Monday commissioners narrowed down a total of 31 applicants to the five that will be coming in to interview, said Commissioner Todd Smith.

"We're looking for someone that has experience running a small or large municipality and that are familiar with regulations regarding things like sewer and water," said Smith.

The interviews will be conducted in closed session beginning at 9 a.m.

Former administrator Blake Proctor abruptly resigned in August.
