Crash victims identified

The N.C. State Highway Patrol has released the names of the two people killed in a head-on collision early Friday morning.
Robert Arthur McKenzie, 34, of Walstonburg, and Caycee Lyn Smith, 43, of Farm Club Road in Goldsboro, were killed when their vehicles met head-on coming around a curve on N.C. 111 North just after 7 a.m.
"Vehicle one (McKenzie) was traveling south on N.C. 111 when he crossed the center line and struck vehicle two (Ms. Smith)," Trooper C.S. Grainger said.
No other circumstances contributed to the accident, Grainger said.
Volunteer firefighters from Patetown, Saulston and Antioch VFDs responded, along with the N.C. State Highway Patrol, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, EMS and Office of Emergency Services.
The highway remained closed for several hours as the wreck had to be investigated for some time before crews could clear both lanes of traffic.
