A Princeton man who reported his Jeep stolen to the Goldsboro Police Department Sept. 24 now faces charges for driving while impaired and hit and run.
Roland Parker, 42, of 156 Capps Bridge Road, told Goldsboro police that his 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee was taken from a parking lot on West Grantham Street earlier this month.
He said he parked the vehicle there because it was having mechanical problems, according to a GPD press release.
The state Highway Patrol found the vehicle wrecked later that evening off Stevens Mill Road.
Further investigation revealed Parker had been driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The Highway Patrol arrested Parker on Friday on charges of DWI, hit-and-run and a seat belt violation. He was taken before a Wayne County magistrate, at which time Goldsboro police added filing a false report of motor vehicle theft to the charges against him.
Parker was given a $2,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Wayne County District Court on Dec. 4.
