Southern Bank announces new positions

Southern Bank and Trust Co. officials have announced that Lemuel D. Uzzell has joined the bank's Goldsboro office as vice president/commercial lender, and that Jane P. Thomas has joined the LaGrange office as a loan officer assistant.
A native of Stantonsburg, Uzzell graduated from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
He has completed the Risk Management Association Banking School.
Uzzell has been in the banking industry for the past 18 years.
He is a past president and current treasurer of the Exchange Club of Goldsboro. He has been a board member of the Wayne Opportunity Center since 2005 and a member of the Joseph Warren Masonic Lodge since 1991.
Uzzell served in the US Army from 1986 to 1989.
He currently resides in Goldsboro with his wife, Jenni. They have two children.
A Wayne County native, Mrs. Thomas has been in the banking industry for 45 years.
She received the Woman of the Year award from the Union Grove Women's Auxiliary. She has been treasurer of the Charles B. Aycock Booster Club since 1999.
Mrs. Thomas resides in Pikeville with her husband Bruce. She has three children.
