Grand jurors hand up 30 cases to court

A Wayne County grand jury has found sufficient evidence to charge a Goldsboro man with murder.
Taurus R. Davis will face first-degree murder and armed robbery charges in connection with the Jan. 23 beating death of Robert Lee Davis, 62.
Goldsboro police arrested Davis, 37, of 902 Newsome St., eight hours after finding the elder Davis beaten inside the men's shared residence.
Investigators determined that the younger Davis, the victim's nephew, beat his uncle and robbed him.
Police located Davis, still in possession of the wooden club he allegedly used, the next morning at 607 S. Slocumb St.
Davis was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Robert Davis later died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, resulting in the charges being upgraded to an open count of murder.
Davis' bond, originally set at $150,000 secured was revoked and he has been held in jail without bond ever since. A trial date has not yet been set.
