Two locations on Berkeley Boulevard are being rezoned after public hearings authorized the city to move forward with redrawing zoning lines.
The first location is located on the north side of Berkeley Boulevard between Cashwell Drive and Mall Road. The location used to be a used car lot, and was rezoned from a general business classification to a shopping center classification.
No one commented on the rezoning during a City Council public hearing on the issue.
The second location is not for a building, but a sign. The El Korita sign that towers over U.S. 70 will be rezoned to allow the marker to advertise three separate businesses instead of only one.
The rezonings were requested by Charles S. Norwood Jr. and Mary Sue Fallin, respectively.
"It is our belief that upgrading the sign will benefit everyone at the center," Ms. Fallin said.
