A couple staying at the America's Best Value Inn in Goldsboro called police Tuesday night to report an armed robbery in their hotel room.
The incident took place at 10:14 p.m. at the hotel located at 701 U.S. Highway 70 W.
Eddie Chambers, 64, and Anita Meadows, 51, were in their room when there was a knock at the door, according to the police report.
Mrs. Meadows answered the door and three black men in dark clothing and masks pushed their way into the room.
Chambers fought with the first man but was overpowered by the other two. The men took his wallet containing $600 and fled the scene.
"We are still in the early stages of the investigation," Sgt. Jeremy Sutton said.
Sutton confirmed the men were wearing black hoodies and masks, but it has yet to be determined if any of the men were armed, he said.
