It's fair week

The 66th annual Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair opens Thursday and Wayne County residents can look forward to 10 days of fun, food and entertainment, fair officials say.
This year's fair will feature the return of the popular demolition derby as well as the usual lineup of rides, exhibitions and contests and vendors.
The fair will run through Saturday, Oct. 4.
Gates open daily at 4 p.m. They open on Saturdays at 11 a.m., Sunday at 1 p.m. and Tuesday at noon.
Exhibitors and livestock entries will start arriving Wednesday and the first livestock show will be held Thursday, with the open junior market hog show. Other livestock shows this week include the open junior meat goat show on Friday, the open junior market lamb show on Saturday and the open junior beef heifer show on Sunday.
The horse shows will be held Thursday, Oct. 2.
Entertainment will once again be provided by Powers Great American Midway, which has 48 rides.
Admission to the fair is $7 for adults and $4 for children in grades K-12. Children under the age of 5 are admitted free and on Tuesday, Sept. 30 it will be Senior Day, with seniors age 60 and over admitted free.
Among the entertainment scheduled are bull riding, western gunfight shows, the cheerleading contest, Queen of the Fair, talent contests, spelling bees and science and math contests.
Rides open daily at 5 p.m. except on Saturdays, when they open at noon and Sunday, when they open at 1 p.m.
