A Goldsboro man answered a knock at his door Monday night, only to be greeted by the barrel of a shotgun.
According to a Goldsboro police report, Chicarno Lasale Raynor, 42, was not harmed when an unknown subject fired a shotgun blast into his home at 503 E. Chestnut St., at 8:55 p.m.
His 50-inch flat screen television, door and door frame all suffered significant damage.
Raynor told authorities that he got up to answer the door, and as he opened it a little to see who was there, the gunman slid the barrel of the weapon through the crack in the door and fired.
Police and EMS were dispatched to the scene, but rescue was called off en route once patrol officers arrived and found no one was injured.
Another man, Jai Kornegay, 36, of Mount Olive, also was inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Neither man was cooperative with investigators, the report said.
The suspect, or suspects, fled the area on foot before police arrived. Investigators did process the scene, however, and obtained an initial description of the alleged shooter -- a light-skinned black man.
The total value of the damage from the shotgun blast was listed on the report at $1,050.
