Goldsboro police and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office were thwarted by the rain while searching for the man who robbed a North Spence Avenue business Friday morning.
A man wearing a red shirt and dirty jeans entered the Sunsational Tanning Salon, 321 N. Spence Ave., at about 9:30 a.m. and made off with money from the cash register.
Goldsboro police responded and called in the sheriff's office to request a K-9 officer's assistance in trying to track the suspect.
Deputy Marty McAlduff and his working dog, Shelly, arrived and set about searching the store and surrounding area.
But Shelly was unable to lock on to the suspects' trail due to a steady rain falling throughout the morning that continued most of the day.
Investigators remained on scene speaking with employees inside the business.
Patrol officers are still searching for the suspect, although no further description was made available by press time.
