Wayne County EMS personnel treat three people who were wounded in a wreck that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Tommy's Road.

Three people were injured in a single-vehicle wreck along Tommy's Road Tuesday at about 1:30 p.m.

N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper J.M. Holloman said at least one victim's injuries are severe.

Kayla Maria May Rindy, 24, of Hunter Drive, remains in serious condition Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

She and Mallory Lynn Latouche, 24, of Cedar Road, were passengers in a Suzuki Jeep that went off the roadway and rolled over at least twice, ejecting both women.

Ms. Latouche suffered a broken arm.

The driver of the vehicle, Matthew Scott Engles, also 24 years old, has been charged with failure to maintain lane control and not wearing his seat belt.

Holloman said Engles' injuries were evident but did not appear to be severe.

"The driver took his eyes off the road, ran off the road into a ditch, struck a culvert and went airborne," Holloman said.

Ms. Rindy and Ms. Latouche were each cited for seat belt violations.
