The Goldsboro Family YMCA has been chosen as one of 40 YMCAs in the nation to receive a $100,000 grant to train 10,000 adults in an online curriculum to prevent child sexual abuse.
"Stewards of Children" is the curriculum of Darkness to Light, a national non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child sexual abuse.
The program was initially announced locally in August 2013. Kriquette Davis, associate executive director of the Family YMCA, said at the time that their goal was to train 5,000 adults in the county during 2014.
Any area agencies, businesses or organizations in the community that serve youth are invited to take advantage of the free training for staff, volunteers, members and community partners.
For more information, contact the YMCA at 919-778-8557 or Mrs. Davis at kriquette.davis@ goldsboroymca.org.
