Police charge 39 during campaign

A Governor's Highway Safety Program Booze and Lose It campaign held in Goldsboro Friday revealed 39 violations, including two persons charged with DWI, according to a press release.
The Goldsboro Police Department, in conjunction with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the Pikeville Police Department and the Cherry Hospital Police Department, conducted a checkpoint at North William Street and U.S. Highway 70.
Additional charges handed out by the 36 participating officers included 10 driving while license revoked, four drug violations and four cited for driving without an operator's license.
