The victim is safe and three people are in custody.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office declined to comment further this morning about an alleged kidnapping case it has been actively investigating since Monday night.
The Sheriff's Office received information Monday that a man was kidnapped from a business in Dudley and was being held for ransom. Since then, the investigation has taken many twists, resulting in two arrests Thursday morning. A third arrest soon followed.
"We've been working this thing 24 hours a day, non-stop since Monday," Maj. Tom Effler said.
Effler said the kidnapping might revolve around drugs, although no drugs have been seized.
He said additional agencies involved in the investigation include the FBI, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), The Drug Enforcement Agency Task Force (DEA), the Goldsboro Police Department, Wayne Memorial Hospital Police, the Duplin County Sheriff's Office, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
"Pretty much any agency with an alphabet after it, if it is in this region, they helped," he said.
A Goldsboro police officer assisted with the investigation as a translator, but specifics of his involvement were not given.
"All I can tell you now is that we've got the victim back," Effler said.
A press release detailing the investigation will be released later today.
