The N.C. State Highway Patrol has completed an investigation into a fatal crash in Duplin County Friday.

The accident happened at 4:25 p.m. along the stretch of U.S. Highway 117 known locally as the I-40 connector.

Edward Bradshaw, 73, and Doris Jones Overbee Bradshaw, 67, both of Rosewood, died when their vehicle was truck by an oncoming 18-wheeler.

According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol report, Bradshaw, was driving a pickup truck east on Highway 117, when he attempted to turn left onto Highway 50 in Faison.

Trooper J.M. Gurganus said Bradshaw failed to yield the right of way to the approaching tractor-trailer.

The 18-wheeler struck the passenger side of the pickup.

Mrs. Bradshaw died at the scene. Mr. Bradshaw later succumbed to his injuries as well.

The driver of the 18-wheeler was not identified, but is not a local resident, Gurganus said.

"He was out of Nevada," he said.

No charges are expected to be filed as a result of the accident.
