A Goldsboro man died in an accident on West Grantham Street Wednesday evening after allegedly running a red light and colliding with a tractor-trailer near the intersection of Grantham Street and Jordan Boulevard.
Glyn Daniel Allen, 33, of 209 Perry Drive, was leaving the Little River Shopping Center shortly after 6 p.m. when witnesses say he ran a red light, pulling into the intersection in front of the truck.
According to a Goldsboro Police Department report, Allen succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident.
He was driving a red 2000 Chevrolet passenger car.
The driver of the truck, Calin Gisca, 24, said that he could not avoid Allen's car as it entered the intersection. Gisca was not charged.
According to the police report, the vehicles driven by Allen and Gisca both traveled 187 feet after the point of impact, coming to rest on the shoulder of the west-bound lane of Grantham Street.
The police report said speed was not a factor in the accident.
Gisca was not seriously injured.
