A Goldsboro man refused to cooperate with Goldsboro police after being shot in the leg while walking in the 900 block of South Slocumb Street Monday.
The incident took place just after 11 p.m.
Michael Raekwon Lacey Jr., 29, of Ben Brewington Court, told police he heard a gun shot while walking in the street, according to the police report.
He said he did not realize he had been wounded until he got back to his girlfriend's home, where he has been staying, 20 minutes later.
Wayne County EMS transported Lacey to Wayne Memorial Hospital where investigators were called to meet with him.
According to the report, Lacey willfully signed a non-cooperation form and tried to walk out of the hospital midway through the interview, the report said.
