Wayne County residents will have a chance to listen to and question their legislative representatives at a Chamber of Commerce event Friday.

The "Eggs and Issue" breakfast, sponsored by The News-Argus, will be held at the Lane Tree Golf Club on Salem Church Road from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

The North Carolina General Assembly will convene in May, with a number of big issues looming, especially in the area of education.

To register for the event, call the chamber at 919-734-2241 or visit the chamber website at waynecountychamber.com.

The breakfast is held before the legislative session to provide an opportunity for Wayne County business leaders to learn about possible legislation that might affect their company's bottom line.

The county's entire five-man delegation is expected to be present: Sens. Don Davis and Louis Pate, and Reps. John Bell, Larry Bell and Jimmy Dixon.

Davis  represents part of Wayne, all of Greene County and part of Lenoir and Pitt counties.

Pate represents most of Wayne and parts of Lenoir and Pitt counties.

John Bell represents parts of Wayne, Greene, Lenoir and Craven counties.

Larry Bell represents parts of Wayne, Duplin and Sampson counties.

Dixon represents parts of Wayne and Duplin counties.

The 2013 regular session adjourned on July 26.

The 2014 session -- the so-called short session -- will resume at noon on Wednesday, May 14.

Some committee have already begun meeting in advance of the session.
