A suspected bank robber was caught by police minutes after allegedly robbing the New Century Bank on North Spence Avenue on Friday.
Aaron Allen, 23, is being held under a $250,000 secured bond in the Wayne County Jail.
According to a Goldsboro Police Department report, a man entered the bank at 431 N. Spence Ave. on Friday at about 3 p.m. and, with his hands in his jacket, demanded a teller hand over money.
The teller complied by giving him an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect, described as a black man wearing a gray jacket and dark jeans, left on foot headed toward Berkeley Mall.
Officers on C-Shift with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the alarm and a suspect was spotted.
Officers gave chase on foot and the suspect was taken into custody without incident inside Belk Department Store at the mall, where he had discarded the money.
Allen's address was listed as 936 Apt. C, Fairview Circle.
He was taken to the magistrate's office and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Allen faces a first appearance in Wayne County court on Monday.
