When Goldsboro police called the number of a stolen cell phone Wednesday morning, the suspect in a residential break-in answered the call.

The suspect, Tamarcus Alonza Sheard, 18, had just been stopped by police called to the area of a residential break-in.

A neighbor said she saw two black men load items from inside the residence at 1104 E. Pine St. into the back of a vehicle and then leave. She gave a description of the vehicle, which police located and stopped a few blocks away.

Property reported stolen from the residence, including a 55-inch flat screen television, was in the back seat of the vehicle.

Sheard, along with his brother, Alonza Marquail Sheard, 20, both of 401 S. Pineview Ave., were identified by the witness as the men seen breaking into the residence on East Pine Street.

Meanwhile, police investigating the vehicle break-in, from which two cell phones were stolen out of an unlocked car at 1106 Laurel St., called one of the missing phones. Sheard answered, adding to the list of charges against him.

Both men were charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods and taken to the Wayne County Jail. The younger of the two, also charged with larceny from a motor vehicle, has a bond set at $18, 000 secured, while the elder Sheard's bond was set at $15,000 secured.
