It's time for spring cleaning, and the city of Goldsboro's Sanitation Division will begin its Annual Spring Cleanup during the month of April to pick up large unwanted items to send to the landfill.
This service, provided at no cost, serves to allow the residents of Goldsboro a time to clear out unwanted items such as mattresses, furniture and other large trash items.
"There are some items we can't pick up," Tara Johnson said. "Building materials, car parts, construction materials, animal water, brick and other hazardous materials. Of course any illegal items are also not eligible for pick-up."
Ms. Johnson is heading up the cleanup for the Goldsboro Public Works Department.
"We just need people to call ahead so we can set up a time so we know where we are going," she said.
The dates for pickup fall on each Wednesday in the month of April, barring April 16, which is affected by the Good Friday sanitation schedule.
"We ask that people put out trash the night before their appointment so that it will not be on the street for more than a day," Ms. Johnson said. "There is no limit on Spring Cleanup. We just ask that you don't put the whole house out on the curb."
Ms. Johnson said that people can schedule multiple appointments if they have a lot of things they need cleared out.
To set up an appointment call 919-739-7450 by noon the day before the scheduled pickup date.
