Thelma Cook opens a birthday present at Saulston United Methodist Church as friends and family celebrate her 100th birthday recently. In her time, Mrs. Cook has beaten breast cancer, endured two world wars, lived through 17 United States presidents and 10 popes. She moved to North Carolina in 1999 from Ohio and has three children, nine grandchilden, 19 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
