Megan Mathews Kornegay, right, president of the Wayne-Duplin BPW, presents the Nike Trophy to Rhonda Wells Greenup, the 2014 Young Careerist award recipient.

Rhonda Wells Greenup has been selected as the Wayne-Duplin Business and Professional Women's Club Young Careerist Representative. Competition was held during the Wayne-Duplin BPW's monthly meeting on March 6, 2014, at Ribeye's Steakhouse in Mount Olive.

Judging was based on the Young Careerist candidate's career achievements and ability to project an image that reflects the role of today's young work force in society. Young Careerist candidates were judged on four phases of competition: written biographical information, personal interview, group interaction, and prepared speeches. The candidates must develop their speech from one of four topics determined by the state program.

Rhonda Wells Greenup chose "How do you think women are being impacted by today's economic standing? How can women ensure their jobs will remain?" as the topic of her presentation.

Rhonda received a bachelor of arts degree in English from University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a master of library sciences degree from Eastern Carolina University.

The Virginia Allan Young Careerist Program is sponsored by NC Business and Professional Women to highlight the achievements of women and men between the ages of 21 and 35, who are or have been employed in business or the professions with at least one year of full-time work experience and who support the mission, vision, and legislative platform of the BPW.

The mission of the Wayne-Duplin Business and Professional Women's Club is to provide a diverse, supportive environment which will encourage individuals to develop personally, professionally, and politically through recognition, advocacy and educational opportunities in order to achieve equity in the workplace.
