Requests for the release of more than $8 million for Wayne County Public Schools projects will be before Wayne County commissioners when they meet Tuesday.

The requests, which are part of the board's consent agenda, are being made by the Wayne County Board of Education for $6.1 million in lottery funds and $2 million from sales tax revenues.

The money belongs to the school board, but the release requires approval by commissioners.

The meeting will start with an 8 a.m. agenda briefing, followed by the formal meeting at 9 a.m. Both sessions will be held in the commissioners' meeting room on the fourth floor of the county courthouse annex.

The commission recently approved two projects for which the money will be spent.

The lottery funds will be used on a $12 million renovation project, while the sales tax revenues will be used for design work already done for new middle schools in the Grantham and Spring Creek communities.

The architectural firm of SfL+a will develop and build the schools under a lease purchase agreement with the school board.

The cost of the two schools is to be $40 million.

The renovation projects include $1.8 million for the central attendance area (Goldsboro High School, Dillard Middle School and Carver Heights Elementary School), $3.85 million for Spring Creek Elementary and $6.6 million for Charles B. Aycock High School.

Also on the consent agenda are:

* New Hope W and North East Wayne Fire Protection Districts as recommended by Fire Marshal Bryan Taylor. The changes are the result of the consolidation of the Eureka and Faro fire departments and of the New Hope and East Wayne fire departments.

* Annual contract in the amount of $30,000 for financial advisory services by Davenport & Co. Transaction-related services and special projects will require additional fees. "Reasonable and necessary" direct out-of-pocket expenses incurred by Davenport will be billed to the county.

* Petition for the addition of Eastwind Drive in East Wind Subdivision to the state road maintenance system.

* National Association of Counties' health and dental discount programs for Wayne County residents.
