Second suspect charged in burglary ring

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office arrested a second suspect in a pair of Wayne County break-ins after catching up with the first suspect Thursday afternoon, according to a press release.

Investigators charged Alex Clay Jones, 19, 1575 Old Mount Olive Highway, last week with two counts each of felony breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen goods. Jones is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond.

The investigation led detectives to Matthew Phillip Anderson, 23, 123 Burke St. Anderson, charged with the same counts as Jones, is held under a $30,000 secured bond.

The two Dudley men allegedly committed two break-ins earlier this year, the first at Young's Auto Salvage and the second at a residence in Rosewood.

A storage building to at Young's Auto Salvage, 4172 U.S. 117 Alt., was broken into Jan. 13. Anderson and Jones allegedly made off with more than $1,550 in property.

Less than a month later, on Feb. 2, the duo allegedly struck again at a home on Braswell Road in the Rosewood community.
