A 19-year-old man involved in a car accident Monday morning on U.S. 70 near Elroy Fire Department died Monday about 6:15 p.m. at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, authorities said today.
According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, Tyrese Best was driving west on U.S. 70 when his car left the road and ran through a chain-link fence, flipped end over end through three yards and ejected the driver. The car stopped near the Elroy Fire Department. Best landed roughly 30 yards away.
Best was unresponsive when emergency medical services arrived. He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and then to Vidant Medical Center where he died later that night, Trooper J.S. Smith said this morning.
