Wayne Community College will continue its support of "American Idol" contestant Majesty Rose this week, opening its doors to the public for a viewing party during the show's airing on Wednesday evening.
The former student at the college is currently part of the Top 11 singers in the singing competition, which airs Wednesday and Thursday night on Fox TV.
Last Wednesday marked the launch of the weekly "Majesty Mania" event at the college, complete with a pep rally in the atrium before the crowd moved into Moffatt Auditorium to collectively watch the show.
The same format will be followed this week, with a pep rally from 7:30 to 8 p.m. The first 50 people through the door will again receive Majesty face fans, and those attending will have the opportunity to take photos with the life-sized Majesty Rose cutout.
There will also be a "creation station" to make posters during the event, but this time organizers are also encouraging people to do something a little extra in advance.
A poster contest is being sponsored by the WCC Student Activities Office, with prizes awarded in two categories, youth (under college age) and adult. Winning entries will also be displayed at the college.
The party will continue in the auditorium from 8-10 p.m., when the contestants sing on the broadcast.
Fans can also keep up with the festivities on the college's website, at www.waynecc.edu/majesty-mania/. There are also a variety of social media options on the site for sharing photos and comments about the local contestant. The college will also stream the event live throughout Wednesday evening's show.
The results show, during which the show's Top 10 will be revealed, airs on Thursday at 8 p.m. A public viewing party is being held that evening, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the Family YMCA.
