Murder suspect charged in second shooting

Charges continue to pile up for a Pikeville man who has been in jail on suspicion of murder since late December.
Nebraska Raheem Best, 23, 707 Decoy Drive, currently in the Wayne County Jail awaiting trial in connection with the murder of Tony Jermaine Lewis, 42, is also now charged in a shooting dating back to June 2013.
Best and another man allegedly shot and killed Lewis in the 700 block of North Virginia Street in late December.
Goldsboro police arrested Jaquan Ahmad Dennis, 21, just two days after the murder.
Investigators nabbed Best three hours later.
Both men were charged with an open count of murder and have since been held without bond.
Best, who in addition to the murder charge has 15 pending court dates on charges ranging from traffic violations to drugs, now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, stemming from an earlier incident.
At 11:50 p.m. on June 25, Goldsboro police responding to reports of a person shot in the 500 block of West Mulberry Street found Marquis Hobbs, 49, suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. Hobbs' injuries were not life-threatening, and he was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment. Investigators charged Best Friday with the 9-month-old shooting and failed robbery.
His bond is set at $500,000 secured.
