Deadline to file is Friday

The filing period for the May 6 primary ends Friday at noon.
The filing period opened on Feb. 10 and there have been no local filings since Feb. 19.
Candidates for local office file at the Wayne County Board of Elections office, 209 S. William St. State House and Senate candidates file in their county of residence.
Candidates for federal offices, judgeships and district attorney file at the state Board of Elections office in Raleigh.
Local offices up for election are Wayne County Board of Education (nonpartisan) Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6, sheriff, clerk of superior court, district attorney and the unexpired District 2 county commission term.
The county's entire state legislative delegation is up for re-election -- House Districts 4, 10 and 21 and Senate Districts 5 and 7.
Also of local interest are three congressional seats -- House Districts 1 and 13 and Senate.
Several judgeships are up for re-election including one district court, four on the state Supreme Court and three on the Court of Appeals.
Judicial races are nonpartisan.
