Police catch suspect in thefts

Investigators with the Goldsboro Police Department have recovered weapons, ammunition and property stolen during two separate heists that took place over the last two months, according to a press release issued Thursday.
Antwan Jamal Stackhouse, 24, of 823 S. Franklin St., is in custody under a $5,500 secured bond after turning himself in to police Wednesday.
He faces charges of second-degree burglary, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, safecracking and possession of stolen firearms.
The charges stem from a break-in Jan. 2 in the 1000 block of South Madison Avenue, and another in the 1200 block of Judy Place Feb. 6.
Stackhouse allegedly entered the first residence through a window and removed two safes valued at $350.
At the second residence, which he also allegedly entered through a window, Stackhouse allegedly grabbed an AR-15 assault rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .40 caliber semi-automatic Glock pistol. He also removed a large amount of ammunition and a flat screen television, according to the report.
The value of the property removed from the second break-in is estimated at $6,306.
According to the press release, $4,300 worth of property from the two break-ins has been recovered, including the AR-!5 and shotgun. Stackhouse is scheduled for a first appearance in Wayne County District Court Monday.
