MOUNT OLIVE -- A Mount Olive resident and Duplin County Schools employee, Stephanie Hardy Alphin, 45, died today in a single-vehicle accident just after 7 a.m. on Garner Chapel Road in Duplin County, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Trooper Paul Howard said Ms. Alphin's Ford Explorer ran off the road and hit a ditch before striking a light pole early this morning.
Ms. Alphin, a teacher's assistant and E-Learning adviser at North Duplin Junior/Senior High School, was on her way to work when the accident occurred.
There were no obvious contributing factors that might have caused the accident, Howard said.
Ms. Alphin was alone in the vehicle, he added.
