The Goldsboro Police Department is working to identify two men in connection with a robbery/kidnapping that took place in the parking lot of 508 E. Walnut St. Monday at 10 p.m.
Harry Oaks, 49, and Darryl Applewhite, 48, both of 503 E. Walnut St., were in a parked car talking with William Whitfield, 58, of 508 E. Walnut St., when suddenly the car door was opened from the outside, according to the report.
Two armed men held the vehicle occupants at gunpoint and demanded money. When Oaks told them he had no money, the gunmen pulled him from the car and forced him to his home across the street.
Once he got his door open, Oaks tried unsuccessfully to shut the two men out. He was struck in the head by one of the armed attackers.
Applewhite then took off down the street and was chased by the second gunman.
Goldsboro police and Wayne County EMS 41 responded. Oaks refused treatment.
The gunmen, described only as black men dressed in all black, one with a camouflage bandanna over his face, got away with $400, various sets of car keys and a cell phone valued at $75, according to the report.
