A 65-year-old Wayne County man is in stable condition at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville today after he was shot in the abdomen during a home invasion Friday night.
At approximately 7 p.m. Friday, three masked men forced their way into the home of Johnny Lee Bryant and his wife, Sandra, at 4735 U.S. 70 E., according to the report.
Mrs. Bryant was not harmed.
Sheriff's deputies and Wayne County EMS responded to the scene after receiving reports of a burglary in progress and shots fired.
Bryant, found suffering from a single gunshot wound, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital before being flown to Vidant Medical Center.
Investigator's believe the subjects went about searching for valuables but ended up fleeing with just two televisions.
The victim's home is in a secluded area, so there were no witnesses to assist in gathering descriptions of the suspects.
