An Albertson man was killed Friday just before 8 p.m. in a single-vehicle accident on N.C. 111 South, just south of the Wayne/ Duplin County line.
N.C. State Highway Patrol Trooper Charles Best said Jose Luis Carrivales Herrera, 34, 4290 N.C. 111 N., ran off the road to the right, went airborne, and landed in a field.
The vehicle, a red 1991 Mitsubishi pickup truck, flipped three to four times and came to rest on top of Herrera, who was ejected during the wreck, Best said.
Duplin County EMS and the Alberston Fire Department responded and were able to pull Herrera out from under the vehicle. He was transported to Vidant Duplin Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Best said no other factors had yet been determined that might have led to the accident other than that Herrera ran off the road.
