Special Olympians go bowling in state competition

Special Olympics Wayne County sent 34 athletes and partners to participate in the eastern state bowling competition.
The athletes participated in singles, doubles, unified doubles and unified team competitions. County bowlers won 26 medals and eight ribbons.
The team was coached by Don Jenkins, Debi Walderman, Ulysses Rouse and Herb Langston.
Athletes Jonathan Delano, Frank Dunn, Dianne Jordan, Kevin Langston, Jesse Martinez, Shannon Moore, John Ragan and Crystal Rouse competed in the singles competition.
The teams of Alan Jenkins and Emily Crawford, Luke Smith and Ryan Hood and Charlie and Andrew Nail competed in unified doubles.
Doubles teams were Jenifer Cruz and Robert Walker, Erica Walderman and Melissa Stanford, Miguel Sheffield and Robert Benson, Paul Edwards and Jay Zambelli, Heather Pardue and Layne Turner and Rhonda Barwick and Tyler Edmundson.
Unified team members were Veronica Cutler, Brian Gilbert, Kelly Ivey and Pete Lewis; and John Foster, Emani McDuffie, Larry McRoy and Lionel Martin.
