Crash leaves one dead

A Pikeville man was killed early Friday morning in a single-car accident on Antioch Road near Wayne Memorial Drive.
Just before 12:30 a.m., William John Harvey, 35, drove his 2009 Toyota passenger car off the road to the right, State Highway Patrol Trooper Benny Grady said.
"He then came back on, crossed left of the center line and went off the road to the left. He ran into the ditch and then ultimately hit a tree," Grady said.
Harvey was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the SHP report, a high rate of speed contributed to the accident, but results have not returned yet to determine if alcohol was a factor.
Harvey was not wearing his seat belt, Grady said.
