About 40 tickets are still available for the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce's annual fundraiser Thursday.
This year, the chamber broke from its tradition of having a reverse raffle, to hold an event capped at 150 participants where one person will walk away with a one-carat diamond that retails at $10,000.
"We wanted to limit the number of people to keep the odds good for anyone participating of leaving with a one-carat diamond," Chamber Executive Director Kate Daniels said.
Everyone who comes will also get a cubic zirconia stone and ticket holders do not have to be present to win.
"This is a unique event for Wayne County and it has been great partnering with Alan Sutton," Mrs. Daniels said.
Sutton will be offering 30 percent discounts on settings the night of the event, she said.
Also discounts of up to $100 will be offered to ticket holders at the social.
"It's a great place to come and have fun and have some light hors d'oeuvres while doing some last minute Christmas shopping," Mrs. Daniels said.
If all goes according to plan the fundraiser will pull in about the same amount as years past for the chamber, about $15,000.
Tickets to the event cost $100 and will admit two adults.
Champagne and light hors d'oeuvres will be served at the event which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday night at Alan Sutton Jewelry at 1803 C Wayne Memorial Drive in the Carlie C's shopping center.
