Suspect charged in November shooting

The Goldsboro Police Department has arrested a 20-year-old Goldsboro man in connection with a shooting at a convenience store that took place Nov. 1.

Larry Maurice Saunders Jr., of 502 E. Chestnut St., is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $275,000 secured bond on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, possession of a firearm by a felon and injury to personal property, according to a press release.

Saunders allegedly shot Exzavia Ramsuer, 23, after the two men fought inside the Beestown convenience store at 905 S. Slocumb St. A cooler and the glass doors of the business were also struck by bullets allegedly fired from Saunders' gun.

Saunders was taken into custody at 4:20 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Olivia Lane, by officers assigned to the Goldsboro Police Department's Housing Unit.
