MOUNT OLIVE -- A $3,000 reward is being offered by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for information leading to an arrest in the double homicide discovered Tuesday at 638 Waller Road just west of town.
"It looked personal," Wayne County Sheriff's Office Maj. Tom Effler said. "It was not a random thing. We think it was either vindictive or revenge."
There is no indication that drugs were involved, he said.
The victims have been identified as Tyrone Beamon Jr., 27, of 638 Waller Road, and Shondrea Juanette Millhouse, 21, of Knightdale.
Three young children, all unharmed, were also found in the house where deputies discovered the bodies. One child is Beamon's and the other two are Ms. Millhouse's.
Effler said the ages range from 1 to about 4.
The children are now with family, he said.
The bodies had been there less than two days before being found, Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders said.
The bodies were initially discovered by Beamon's mother, Effler said. She took the children to her home in Dudley, and that is when her husband called the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies went to the house about 3:30 p.m.
Autopsies on both bodies were to have been performed Wednesday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh to determine the cause of death. The details of the report are pending, Effler said.
The SBI is assisting with the investigation and Effler said officers are "aggressively" working the case. Officers have been able to eliminate some persons of interest, he said.
Anyone with information about the murders is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 919-731-1401.
In addition to the $3,000 reward offered by the Sheriff's Office, anyone with information about the case may call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or text at 919-222-4230. Callers will remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers gives cash rewards of up to $1,000 per case for information leading to felony arrests.
Det./Sgt. Robert Golimowski has been assigned the case as the lead detective.
