Goldsboro native Casey Sutton will compete in finals of Texaco Country Showdown Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn. It will be held in the historic Ryman Auditorium.

Recently, Casey won the Northeast Regional round of the competition at Hersey Park, Pa. Earlier in October, she won the North Carolina/South Carolina state preliminary competition, competing against winners from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Indiana, New York and the New England states.

Casey won singing a modernized version of the rock classic "House of the Rising Sun," originally recorded by The Animals, along with a song she wrote and recorded titled "Smokin' Gun."

She has also recorded her first music extended play featuring four original songs, which feature traditional folk instruments such as the mandolin, fiddle and dobro. It's available at iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and other major music distributors.
