Veterans events set for November

The Wayne County JobLink office will host two events in November to help area veterans as the county celebrates Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
A Wayne County Veterans Outreach Stand Down will be held Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wayne Center, 208 West Chestnut St.
Veteran will receive services from various federal, state, county, and community agencies.
It will include information from the Veterans Administration on rural health outreach, benefits information, readjustment counseling and from a homeless coordinator.
The second event, this one in recognition of Hire A Veteran Week, is a Wayne County Veterans Job Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Carolina National Guard Armory, 700 U.S. 117 South Bypass.
Scheduled to participate are AAR Corp., AP Exhaust, Franklin Baking, city of Goldsboro, SPX Transformer Solutions, Harnett Health, Select Staffing, SECU Partnership East program, Roadmasters Drivers School, Woodmen of the World and others.
Veterans planning to attend are advised to "dress for success" and to be prepared to complete applications onsite.
JobLink official recommend not bringing children to the event, and for veterans to have an introduction that "sells."
Veterans should brings a resume, their DD Form 214, security clearance credentials and Career Readiness Certificate.

"What better way could we demonstrate Wayne County's commitment to its veteran population than to host these events as part of our county's Veteran's Day celebrations," Debra Best, JobLink official, said.
